EMDR Therapy in Phoenix & San Diego (All of CA & AZ)

Deep nervous system re-wiring, helping people heal their traumas and limiting beliefs with online EMDR therapy from comfort of their own homes.

It’s time to live life fully.

Trauma can make you feel stuck and keep you from living your best life.

Are you feeling stuck? Feeling like regular talk therapy just doesn’t cut it? Looking for quality trauma treatment? EMDR might be for you and I can help!

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing or EMDR therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps people overcome trauma and distressing life experiences. Originally for PTSD, this type of therapy can help with so much more!

It has been proven to help people who have not found much help from traditional talk therapy and it can help speed up the process of healing. Often, years of talk therapy can be completed in a fraction of the time. This is amazing because as a trauma therapist working with people all over California and Arizona, I want people to get back to their lives as quickly and safely as possible. EMDR is just one of many tools that we can use to help you get there.

EMDR Therapy in Phoenix & San Diego (All of CA & AZ) Can Help.

Trauma is anything that is not nurturing. Take a moment to let that sink in.

Trauma can be something that is happening to you right now or it can be an accumulation of things over years. Trauma can “gunk up” our nervous system making it harder to regulate our emotions, get good sleep, succeed at our goals, and have fulfilling relationships.

I want you to think about how our physical body responds to pain. Imagine a thorn in your foot. It’s painful and walking on it or touching it, will hurt and slow down the healing process. This is not too far removed from what happens in our brains after a traumatic event. Our brain can get stuck after a trauma and it becomes hard to move through the trauma. Somatic-type therapies, like EMDR, Brain Spotting, and Somatic Experience, can help brains get unstuck from trauma. EMDR can help people get unstuck following a traumatic experience and can help them heal faster than just talking through what happened.

All a dually licensed therapist serving California and Arizona, I provide EMDR therapy along side with other therapies to help people achieve lasting results. I often blend IFS, ACT, EFT therapies.

EMDR has also been shown to be effective in memories that may not be outwardly traumatic but still contribute to improving the negative thoughts that lead to many people having poor self-esteem and feeling like they are not able to handle everyday life stressors.

Maybe you are wondering if EMDR is right for you. I would encourage you to read about the treatment at EMDRIA and feel free to check out my blog for information on trauma and its impacts on relationships.

And if you would like you can reach out to me if you are interested in a consultation and I would be more than happy to go over it with you and see if this might be what you need to finally get your life back.

Healing is not just done in the therapy room

The great thing about EMDR is you will continue to process outside of the sessions.

This means more effective and holistic healing, therapy that gets to the real root of the issue. Getting you back to living life and where you are not just surviving but thriving!

Trauma lives in the body…

It is so important to process trauma in a holistic way because trauma does not just live in our thoughts, and in our minds, but it lives in our bodies. This is why I highly encourage my clients to take up other therapeutic activities while we work together, such as yoga or dance, because it helps unlock the trauma held in the body. Check out my blog for articles related to this.

EMDR Breakdown: An eight-phase treatment.

There are 3 time periods in which EMDR focuses: the past, present, and future. An eight-phase treatment approach helps a person work through the traumas and stressors that impact them in order to help them break free and heal from the trauma(s) that they have experienced. In addition to a person’s recent traumas, childhood traumas can also be included.

Phase One: is a history-taking session(s). This is where a therapist will work with the client to identify any traumas to work on with EMDR.

Phase Two: is where the therapist will access to ensure the client has the skills and tools that they need to be able to reprocess the events. In my work with therapy clients, I spend a lot of time in this phase, because I want to make sure that you are ready and will be able to successfully overcome the stressors and traumas we want to overcome.

Phase Three to Six: is where the therapist will work with the client in identifying a target or a memory and process this using the EMDR techniques. The goal of phases three to six of EMDR is to help a person get to a place where they no longer experience distress related to memory. A person will work through three things: any vivid images related to the memory; any negative thoughts or beliefs that they have about themselves related to that memory; and any body sensations or emotions that are connected to that memory.

Phase Seven: is closure. This is where the client and therapist work together to tie up any loose ends. Oftentimes, extra materials will start to bubble up and this is normal. This is why phase two of EMDR is so important because a clinician has to work hard with the client to be able to ensure the client has the skills and tools to process anything that might arise following the treatment.

Phase Eight: is where the therapist and the client come together to see if the treatment was successful. Even though EMDR has been shown to have great success rates and has helped millions of people, EMDR is not a one size fits all. That is why this phase of the treatment is so important. A discussion is had and possible recommendations for the future can be made.

Online EMDR Therapy in Phoenix & San Diego (All of CA & AZ) for Trauma Therapy

In my time as a therapist, I have seen just how impactful EMDR has been for those who have overcome trauma. So much so that I am working towards my certification with EMDRIA- an association that is dedicated to the highest standards. Certification is not needed to provide this type of trauma treatment, though it is recommended that a therapist has gone through at least level one training. However, I want to ensure that I receive quality training and ongoing support from those who are more advanced in the field. I am currently in the certification process, which can often take up to a year or more for some clinicians. I do this because you deserve quality trauma treatment, and I know how debilitating trauma can be.

I want people to overcome their traumas so that they can create the life they want to live. A life free from suffering and one with more joy and light.

As a BIPOC therapist, I can safely say that EMDR was one of the best I expirences I ever had in therapy. There was something deeply healing connecting with my nervous system and body in a way that talk therapy can’t really address. EMDR therapy is great for people who are working through racial, cultural, and identity issues. EMDR therapy is what helped hundreds of my clients get to the root issue in their therapy sessions. And it can help you too!
